Base Rock = Live Rock? or just "hard rock" GRIN

Ok,

When I setup my 55, I added base rock, cured live rock and uncured live rock to cycle the tank...

Q? Will my base rock eventually become "live rock" or will it always just be a bland eye sore?

it will turn, but not sure how long it takes before it is concidered 'live'

it will take some time before the bac. in the LR moves over to the base rock that is dead. but it will happen!. i have a very large piece of base rock. it is now full of life.. it did take a looooonnngggg while but it will happen. that is if your LR is against it or on top of it..

my base rock has been in my tank for a little over 5 weeks and has coraline algea growing on it, is that a sing that it is becoming alive how does one know when it is live and how long is a long time ?

not sure on this....we put in a couple of pieces of live rock along with junk stuff and it slowly is converting over
