Back from holiday up in the northwest...

..and the sealife was absolutely stunning!! Steve Weast posted some pics of his fantastic cold water tank a while back, and now I understand why he has such gorgeous specimens. I took these shots on and under the jetties around the San Juan islands and saw just about everything we have in our tanks short of coral: anenomes (by the million), starfish, crabs, urchins, sea cucumbers (apparently they're farmed up there). Even the locals were friendly!! The last shot is of the fantastic octopus they have at Seattle aquarium (2 of them actually) - the male and female are in 2 separate tanks connected by a tunnel which is blocked at one end by a glass panel screwed in. They managed to open the panel and get past!!

Just thinking, (I know scary) you would have to have 2 chillers. One to run the main display and one to use for water changes. Have to have them the same temp.....
