baby bangaiis question

i have 9 baby bangaiis that are about a month and a half old. recently i transferred them from thier in tank specimen container to a 28g that i hooked onto my main system to keep the water quality constant. when we transferred them into the 28 evryone of them "died" temporarily.
when i say died i mean they became stiff and were unable to swim, they were still breathing but some floated belly up to the surface a few sank to the bottom and layed on the floor and a few were being tossed around by the flow unable to move.
i attributed this to the flow being to much for them to handle(mag 7) so i T'd off my return and added a ball valve to slow it down. what type of flow is appropriate for them?
since the move they have settled in the tank fine, but now when i feed them a few "die" temporarily everytime. why do they do this and is this normal? are they being paralyzed with fear?

Ive had fish do that before they were adults but If Imoved the rock or moved them they would play dead. It kinda makes me wonder if I tossed some live ones along the way

swimming away is usually the best way to catch a predator's attention. going stiff and floating to the bottom like something inedible isn't a bad bet....

try adding a long spine urchin, it might make them feel more at home. They can hide in the spines if they get scared.

I am trying to pair two up, but they seem to stay on opposite sides of the tank now.

I'm absolutely positive other people have mentioned this before. Have you searched for other threads on raising banggais? Sorry I can't be more specific (or know why this happens...)

i have a fake urchin in there that has worked. its really crude but they still hide in it. its a chunk of styrofoam with some toothpicks shoved through it and zip tied to a magfloat. like i said crude, but they still hide in it. they "die" so quickly that they cant make it over to it before they become stiff.
