baby bangaiis help
so my male just released his first baby, i grabbed it with a turkey baster and placed him in my in tank breeder box.
im currently in the process of setting up a tank dedicated to the bangaii pair for future breeding, but i am woefully unprepared for this brood. im also currently(as in right now!) setting up a brine shrimp hatchery.
the problem is, the brine shrimp wont be hatched until the morning(i hope!) and the only food in my possesion that is suitable for the baby is cyclopeeze and as far as i can tell its not really eating that.
will the baby make it through the night without eating, basically no food for the first 24 hours of its life?
what other foods will they eat?
this is my first experience with breeding anything! im hoping he will release the rest tonight when i can grab them again, otherwise they become clown food .
feel free to post any other help or suggestions with raising these little guys, like i said, this is my first time breeding anything!

Try shooting a PM to Sally here - she raised many banggais, in fact I've got one she gave me as a gift 5 years ago.
I *think* she's used Cyclopeeze as a food.
Ah a successor to the early morning brine-pot-clangning (ask some of the veteran posters here - I clanged brine pots early in the morning when I was trying to rear seahorse fry)
Congrats!

im no help, just wanted to say congrats, and your doing a great job to get as far as you are, dont get discouraged if the first batch or two dont make it, most people who breed loose the fry the first couple times too, and the parents are trying to figure the whole thing out as well.

thanks everyone. im definately taking this first as a learning experience and dont have really high expectations for the first brood(although im going to do everything i can). i cant wait until the other tank is set up and they have it all to themselves!
any other food suggestions? decapsulating my brine shrimp did not go as planned it all went perfect until i poured the decapsulated eggs in the " baby brine shrimp" net to rinse them. you guessed it, right through the net and down the drain!!!! i have brine being hatched now but that little mishap means that the brine wont be ready until at least tommorow night, and thats being really optimistic.
i can head to my LFS first thing in the morning and get whatever i need, but im not sure what else is nutritious enough for the fry. they usually have brine, but not freshly hatched. could i use the adult brine and "gut load" them? and if so, then with what? selcon?
im getting ready to stare at my tank all night and hunt for any more fry that he releases, wish me luck!

i managed to catch 8. dads mouth looks to be empty. i have a feeling there was alot more that ended up food(i saw mom eat 1).
3 of the fry that i caught were in the chamber that houses my mag drive, the last chamber before returning to the tank. im assuming there were a few that got caught in the pump .
im excited about the 8 that i caught, i wasnt sure i would be able to catch any of this brood, so not a bad start. now if i can just figure out what to feed them tommorrow....

Never had saltwater fry but my jack demspy babies held their yoke sack for few days for nuritment. If the bangai's do as well they should be okay for a day or two.

I don't know about "her" but I have been using Cyclop-eeze freezer bar to feed my baby peppermint shrimp. They love it. I feed the leftovers to my tank, and the cardinal go nuts for it. I assume they young will too.

so far so good i have not lost any yet, i still have 10! i finally hatched some baby brine and they absolutely devour that. its funny to watch, they are so small and fairly transparent that you can see there little bodies turn red from the brine.
i have them in the breeding container right now but im concerned that they dont have enough water movement. its grated in the bottom so im not worried about water "exchange" betweeen the container and the tank, but actual water movement for the fry. they are just floating in very still water. is this important, should i be concerned?
i should have some pics to put up tonight
