Babies!!!!
Well, this morning I peeked into the overflow and lo and behold two tiny little baby banggais were swimming in there. I shouted to the cats and dog..."We have babies, babies!!" They weren't impressed. I finally managed to get a turkey baster in the overflow and suck one of the babies out. The other one is still in there. Then, I just happened to look in the display tank and there were two more in there. I sucked them out easily. So out of 4 babies that I saw, I caught 3.
Even though I knew he would have his babies any day now, I didn't have any baby brine ready . So I've been frantically calling every place in the twin cities to see if anyone has anything..nope nada. The one place that has rotifers is out..shoot!!!
So, I'm hoping they have enough fat reserves to last till morning when the brine will be ready. The good (or bad) news is that the male still isnt eating, so he must have more babies in there. I'll be ready for them now.
Here's a really bad pic:
Santa please bring me a digital camera that actually focuses!!
Brooke

Hey Dick-
We have a little 10g tank divided from front to back with a piece of acrylic....so the heater, filter, LR and return pump are back there.
These fish are sooooooo tiny!! I'm hoping they make it!!!

Thanks Drew. I hope your male learns to hold on to the babies!
Jon is that man of the hour, because he just caught the 4th baby from the overflow. I tried taking some more pics..but they are all blurry. I've tried flash on flash off, from an angle, etc !??
they are by far the neatest thing we've ever seen!!

LOL
Whoo Hoo
This is really great. You guys have baby salt water fish. Do you realize that it was just a few years ago that the "experts" would have told you that this is impossible?
Great Job
Jerel

Congrats Brooke! I am hoping to have my next fish be a pair of banggai cardinals.
Are you interested in selling them?? We could start a lineage of Brooke's Banggais.
Hey everyone, this is really HOMER, but I don't know how to get my old name back.
Homer, truly it is so...

Woo Hoo Brooke and Jon, Alright, congrats
Homer, is that really you?
Its gotta be who else would steal your name
Perhaps Brooke will take time out from her busy schedule feeding micro food and changing polyfilter diapers to fix your name.
I would try but I dont have the CP link on this puter

Chris suggested last night that Jon and I take turns to check and see if the brine had hatched and feed right away. Well, it paid off, because on the 3rd check...at 6:45am, we had nauplii!! Yeah! I'm happy to report that all 6 banggai's were alive and well this morning and have been enjoying their breakfast. Did I say 6 babies?? Jon found two more in the sump last night! Better go look, I'm sure there are more in there.
So....the fun continues and we've got more brine to hatch!
Thanks to all who sent prayers and good karma our way. It worked!
Brooke
Honk if you have six grandchildren!
Homer- I'm still working on the displayed name thing. It isn't an option in vB. But, if you'd like to just reregister under Homer, I can adjust your # of posts for you.
Doug-I'll PM you the control panel link...but I warn you..it's like the cockpit of the space shuttle!
