Automatic top-off question

(Yet) another basic plumbing question....

My Kent top-off float valve arrived today and I hooked it up tto my RO/DI system. Now - my RO/DI (6 stage) has an automatic shutoff valve. According to the instructions that came with the Kent float, I'm supposed to put the pressure activated solenoid before the DI membrane and connect the outlet from the DI to a tee-of the outlet. But none of the instruction diagrams diagrams refer to systems with an ASOV - so I have ignored the pressure-activated solenoid altogether and just plumbed the outlet into the float valve. So far it seems to work - but is this right?

It can be rebuilt.

was the ASOV installed with the system? if it is integrated into the system than you should be fine by hooking it up that way. if there is not an ASOV on the RO/DI than the float valve may appear to be working, but in reality you will be constantly dumping waste water in your drain.

the ASOV when activated cuts off the infeed to the RO/DI so that when the tank is full it is not still producing waste water.

Thanks Geoff- the ASOV came with the system already installed so I think it's all good. Right - next job on the list is the skimmer cup mod, then the standpipes for the new overflow box when it arrives....
