attaching finger leather

so, saturday i picked up a lime green finger leather. i was told to attach it to the rock of my choice, using a rubber band.

i used the largest, (ie: not too tight) rubber band i could find. sunday night i had two leathers. the rubebr band did one of two things, it chewed through the leather, or the leather was annoyed by it's presence and separated.

last night i reattached the two pieces again, this time using very large wire ties. and left them as loose as possible, without leting the leather float away.

tongiht i come home from work, and i have 3 leathers and one of the originals looks like it's trying to split.

now on the one hand, this is kind of cool, i now have 3 separate finger frags. but on the other hand, if i keep going at this rate, by the end of the week, i'll have 100 frags!!!

is there an easier or more reliable way to hold these things to the rock, until they attach? i know fingers can sometimes go as long as 6 to 8 weeks before finally attaching.

it looks to be in good health. all the polyps are extended and it has good color. but i fear that splitting in two, daily, isn't a good thing.

what about the net bags used for carbon? though that is about the same density as the hosiery..

the netting should have considerable big holes and do not tie too tightly.... or else you will have hundreds of frags... LOL...
