ATO. I need help picking one.
I asked this question in my build/magnifica thread, but I figured I'd get more help if I started a new thread.
I need an ATO that will control my RO/DI. I want the RO/DI to flow through a Kalk reactor before entering the tank. Any ideas where I can get one?

Thanks. I just checked out the site. I can get the double float switch and solenoid for about 85 bucks. I would like to know if I can hook the float switches to two different solenoids, or if I would need to buy another set of switches to install two solenoids. If one solenoid fails, I would like to have a backup. I can't find a contact button on the site.

Id recommend 2 additional float switches, the second one in the kit is for redundancy

Purchased my ATO from Bulk Reef Supply. It has a float switch, electric float switch and a solenoid. If I remember right it was around $100.

If your going to (BUY) a premade top off.......I would buy the Tunze Osmolator. If your making your own....just get your switches and solenoids and your good. I bought my switches from a company on ebay.....they work great.

Depends on how handy you are. For about $20 in parts, you can have double redundancy for safety.
BUT, I am still thinking about buying an osmolator... ...right after I buy the Huricone Cat 2, been thinking about it ever since Tony mentioned it...
Now I have to find a deal on one...

Tom, contact Cory (usmc2b2004) he is a dealer of Octopus skimmers (and a PMAC member), he will work something out for you.

Just my opinion here, but I think that the Tunze is overpriced for an ATO.. I'd stick with either a DIY setup or a premade floatswitch setup like from autotopoff.com or bulkreefsupply...

Well personally I would just make my own as well......which is what I did. 20-30 bucks and your done. Thats the easiest if your not afraid to try it out. I have a friend who has the osmolator....and he likes it a lot. I think if you use two switches its more than enough protection from floods. I use a tom aqualifter and a single float valve..I will be adding another one eventually. but right now its just one... I have the same exact setup that Marc does on Melevs reef. Just a extension cord spliced....I used waterproof twisties (they have silicon in them to seal the wires) and then I wrapped them in plastic and taped them in electrical tape......sounds extreme but I tested it in a glass of water completly submerged and a gfci for two days.......the gfci didnt trip....so im assuming its pretty water tight. I like the diy one....its a LOT cheaper, and works just as well.

i think the most important thing is to use the proper size ato tank that if something failed it will not overflow your sump.
