are these sponges?

This morning when I turned the light on I looked at them but they didn't look like this, they looked like straight tubes with a little hole on top. When the light was on for a few minutes they flattened out again like you see in the pic. I've been looking online but couldn't find anything that matched them... found a few neat hitch hiker sites tho! Thanks!

Look more like Zoo's to me from the description you gave. Sponges dont normally open up they stay the same shape until they grow if that makes sence

wow, I just did a search and found some awesome pics... zoo's are so colorful! I hope that's what I have and I hope it grows and gets as pretty as those I've seen!

Those are caribbean zoo's, commonly called sea mats here.
