Aquarium glass

For those DIYer's, where did you get the glass for your tank? Any links? How about starphire? I am considering building again. I need 5/8 or 3/4, so HD is out

I've not built any tanks, but I've had tops cut at a local glass shop that's just down the road from my place. They told me that they've had inquiries about building tanks but they do not want that liability but they could get glass for anyone who wanted to do it themselves.

I'd imagine any local glass shop could order the pieces you want, and even cut them to size. You'd just have to put them together (and hope they don't leak )

Thanks Jenn. I was hoping someone had an online glass shop. I looked,but couldn't find. I am building the tank myself., so the liability won't be a problem.

Well the shipping and the risk would be crazy. Most of those glass shops, and aquarium manufacturers are on a truck route from the glass factory. Even getting tanks shipped by common carrier can be dodgy. I would think that the cost would be prohibitive.

Surely there's a glass shop someplace near you - they can usually be found in the phone book under windshields or auto glass.

Yes, there is. I just know that things are usually cheaper on the net, so Iwanted to see if there were any. Either way, I will be paying for the shipping, whteher it is to the local galls shop or an online retailer.
