For those who have entertain thoughts of having an DSB, the Aquarium Fish Magazine has an article entitled: Reef Tank Success Using Deep Sand. It breaks it down in three parts: Benefits, Set-up, and possible problems you may have. Johnny

I don't have that issue so I am curious what it has to say. How would you summerize it?

Over the weekend 3/3-3/4 I re-did my tank based on earlier discussions about DSB. I pulled my live rock out, removed 20# of my sand base to leave about 20# (1.2") added 30# Oolitic sand ((1.7") and topped with 20# (1.2") of live sand for a total of about 4" +/-. Reinstalled my live rock (70#) Booooy what a mess! Seems like I kept hearing tank should have a 4" base so thats what I did....

I have DSB of 5-6" in my 4week old tank and thought about more but that should be more than adequate. I really beleive in the DSB and it looks so much more natural. Johnny
