Question

AquaC Remora Pro Skimmer

Just curious if any of you have any experience with the Aqua C Remora Pro series hang-on protein skimmers? I am considering purchasing one with a mag drive - 3 series motor. I've heard that the spray-induction system is superior to venturi style skimmers. If you have any ideas for any better "hang-on" style skimmers, I'm all ears, thanks.

hey bfish, I'm tagging along on your thread, I have a 75 gal AGA that I'm converting from Fresh to a FO salt, so I'm very interested to see what people have to see for this HOB model.

I like the fact that Marine Depot also has the pre-filter box (really an overflow) AND "extended" collection cups (bigger cup on top) avalible...

The setup I'm looking at is the same as your saying, Pro w/ Mag3 and I was going to add the pre-filter box and the bigger collection cup, total price ~$310 (without shipping).

Hi rottielover,
I have a friend of mine who has the smaller Remora C model and he has been really happy with it. I don't know anyone personally who has the pro series model. I agree that the pre-filter box and bigger collection cup would be a good way to go as well. You could also get the drain fitting installed on it too, if you wanted to run a line down to a larger collection bottle.

I currently run a CPR BakPak2R on my 55 Tank. It's a great hang-on except that it takes quite some time and fidgiding to finally get rid of micro bubbles. The job it does is fantastic, it works right away. You see the results in the crap you dispose of. Its somewhat quiet with minimal noise. The price is also pretty low compared to the Remora C (low 100's).
