AquaC Remora

I just got my AquaC Remora Hang-on from Premium Aquatics, It seems to be creating a huge amount of foam already, but it is extremely loud, unbearable for our living room. No directions came with it in terms of how to adjust the unit, and it does not really seem to be adjustable. do I just have to live with this, or can I adjust something to make it quiet?

I've got one of these and love it. Adjustments can be made by moving the o-ring around the collection cup up or down. The noise of the unit will decrease the longer you let it run. My wife complained about it for a couple of days, and after that she quit noticing the noise. It is also in our living room.

I have never had much problems with the Remora Pro skimmer except when water gets a little low in the overflow box I hear some sucking sound and add some water and its cool again! Johnny

Mike,
My Remora is one of the quietest parts of the reef! The Radio Shack fan in the hood makes more noise. The Rio 800 that came with the skimmer was fairly noisy but the MJ 1200 is much quieter.

I put a mj1200 on it that I had lying around, and that did help quite a bit, hopefully it will get quieter with time and blend in with the background noise created by my other 3 tanks in the room.

If you leave the Rio on for two weeks THEN switch it, it will SEEM alot quieter that way......

I think the tip I read was to buy a rubber gasket, stretch it around the collection cup at the height you want the cup, then put the cup in so that the gasket basically forms a seal to prevent some of the air sucking noise. Worth a try for the price of a gasket. hth
