Aqua Clear Aquatics Skimmer

Anyone using this brand of skimmer? What do you think about it? How well does it work?

Nope..not familiar with it. What size tank are you trying to skim?? We might have some other recommendations.

I have a 125Gl reef that I am looking to upgrade the skimmer on it. The LFS recommended the Aqua Clear Aquatics Skimmer so I wanted to do some research on it. My tank and inhabitants can be seen on my web page. http://home.att.net/~lockarts/

Hi Lock!! I only have a hang-on skimmer on my 80 gallon reef so would not know enough about the proper skimmer for your set-up. There will be others who will have an answer for you.
You have a very nice site and liked your harley!! Johnny

With that bioload you might want to look at a beckett skimmer. There are a couple of "professional" hobbyists making nice skimmers. We have one made by Geo http://www.homestead.com/geosreef/beckettskimmer.html

Andy also makes a beckett style skimmer http://www.myreefcreations.com

Both are quality products rivaling their manufactured cousins. I've never seen such dark smelly skimmate till I got the Geo skimmer. They do take awhile to break in, but once set, they are great!

HTH-
