Question

Aqua C Remora skimmer

I just installed it and it's just spraying water like it's supposed to do but no skimmage yet.Should I worry? It's a bit noisy.I had one of those air pump skimmers and it skimmed right away.I guess every skimmer is different.

I've heard this one has a break in period- and the noise only lasts about a week.... I'm not talking from experience since I won't have mine for a few more weeks.

Thank god I have it in another room.Well, since it's in it's break in period and creatiing these tiny bubbles which is good, should I be concerned with a protein build up?Is it doing anything in this period?

Like most things in SW ... patience is required. Your Remora is considered one of the better HOB skimmers out there but will require a "break in" period and will never be "silent" but the noise will become less noticeable .. whether that's because of the "break in" or because you get used to it (or perhaps a little of both) is debatable.

Remora

I have one on one of my tanks - stick some filter floss or filter material in the small area above the air venturi and then place the cup back in, cuts down on some of the sound. The skimmer takes about two weeks to run at full speed.

Make shure the clean out screw is not to far in or to far out for cleanning the jet.
