Aptasia scrubbing?
I read in a book recently that Aptasia could be put in a seperate container connected to the display and used in the same way as an algal turf scrubber, to absorb nutrients and collect sediments. Anybody use this method or know how u would actually export nutrients from the system, it sounds neat! But wouldn't there be a chance of somehow the aptasia to infiltrate the display?

interesting idea! i think this person was just so fed up with them that they came up with this excuse to keep them.
if you could put a monster UV sterilizer on the exit of the aiptasia scrubber than maybe you could keep them from spreading into the display.

Yes, aptasia can bud and free float then attach somewhere else. Heres proof...
This picture was IDed as aptasia. The specimen in the photo is only 1/8 inch long. I forget what they call this budding free floating stage...

Ummm...it wouldn't be the pupa stage, would it
Austin, it does sound like a neat idea, but I know how crafty aiptasia and majano are. Sigh...and the stuff in my tank knows that I like to zap them, so the find places where the sun don't shine, as it were

I misread the title and thought this thread was about aipstasia rubbing, not scrubbing. Second one sounds like a better idea though
