They breed very fast, and will encroch on other corals, when they get next to the corals they will sting and kill them.

you could, but i believe that you do not want to
IIRC, every single little piece of it that's left has the capability to regenerate into a new one.

http://www.marinedepotlive.com/tree-...---polyps.html
here ya go...marine depot sells them....lol
must be a hot seller ..they're out of stock.....
they can be whitish or greyish or tannish.....they get darker and lighter with different light and how well fed they are
i could be wrong..these might actually be a different coral but they surely look like well fed aiptasia to me

Ummm yeah that does look like aiptasia... shucks I should be charging extra for corals that occasionally get those, instead I try to eradicate the little boogers...
I've never seen "polyps" like those.... unless it's something freaky and rare that I've never heard of, that is aiptasia...

No a cleaner shrimp won't eat it but a Peppermint shrimp will. Be careful not to get a Camel shrimp by mistake - they are sometimes misidentified at LFS. Camel shrimp have a distinct hump on their back (hence the name). Peppermint shrimp are red and transluscent/clear white. They usually do a good job at cleaning aitpasia right up.
