Anyone using the "Tap water purifier" on their RO units effluent?

I just bought an AquaFx Stingray 2 stage RO unit , 50 Gpd.(94$ at Atlantis Aquatics).

I have a few questions.First off,my water is DEEP well water...very cold...maybe 50 degrees.RO input water should be 70-77 degrees,is this correct? How do you raise the water temp?

Also...I'm planning on running my own 1 micron pre filter before the RO and a Tap Water Purifier DI unit after my RO. Anyone doing this?

I hooked up feed lines in tandem from my washing machine, using a "Y" fitting I got from AquaFX. One from hot, and one from cold. Temp of water going into RO/DI unit is fine now. I ordered my unit directly from AquaFX and had them plumb it before shipping. The fittings they use are great. I have one on/off valve for hot, one on/off valve for cold, and one on/off valve on the RO/DI unit after the hot/cold water line "T".

My water quality is quite bad, so I got the Mako 5 stage and TDS is now "0". I couldn't be happier with their product or their service.

Hope this solves your problem with temperature, as you can adjust the amount of hot and cold with those little valves.

Luck to ya,

Bob

I purchased the 100gpd AquaFX Baracuda and I'm getting about 96gpd with 50F water.

While warmer water is more efficient, I've heard that using water from a hot water heater will reduce the life of the RO/DI components as there much particulate and mineral residue as a result of the heating process. What I dont know if that's just a problem with Electric Water heaters or all kinds.

Be careful with the RO membrane, the polymer that most of them is made of will stretch and change it's permeability under pressure and heat around 120F (well below most home water heater temps...) This will change the ability of the membrane to reject ions from the filtrate (in other words, it will ruin your membrane) My experience with many of these (we have a ton of them at the different locations at work) has been that they work well enough with winter water, although it will be a little slower, They will still work fast enough for you to flood the kitchen floor, even in the winter, TRUST ME on this : :

My well water comes out about 50 F most of the time, I have a 2' pipe teed off the washer cold water line with a faucet at the end to hook the RO to. I got a length of pipe heating tape used to keep em from freezing and wrapped it on the extention to raise water temp some
And yes I use TWP behind my Kent 24 GPD RO
