Anyone use SLS T5's ?

I want to buy a SLS tek T5 8ea 54watts per light fixture for my 120g. I am concerned about the center cross brace on the top of the tank. Will there be a shadow? And do you think 8ea 54 watt T5's will be too much light for a mixed reef, would I be better off with the 6 light fixture ?? ALso tell me how you like for SLS tek T5's.

Thanks,
Chris

ive heard great stuff about the ted fixtures, although i havent used one, but ive also been thinking about the 8 bulb for my 120, i think 6 is enough for nearly anything, but the 8 would be much better if your going with sps low in the tank. i wouldnt worry about a shadow either, flouresents have a way of eliminating alot of shadow, thats why they pack them into office buildings.

I've got an 8 bulbs retrofit on my 150, and I was concerned about shadowing as well. I went with a braceless tank, but that's probably not an option now that you're set up! But as Andy states, I don't think it would have been a big deal now that I've got it running. I do think six bulbs would be plenty, as I've had some trouble with lower light corals in my tank.

I use the 4 bulb retro over my 50G tank,.. it's more than enough light for whatever I want to put in there

I definitally agree that for an SPS dominated or clam dominated tank you'll want to go with the 8 bulb setup, and I think you will be very happy with this fixture. I don't notice any shadow from the Centerbrace on my 50.

I've got that on my 150 mixed reef. No shadows. I only run 4 of the lights for 6 hours cause it was too much to run all 8 of them all day, but its nice to know that I could up the lighting....
