Anyone have experience with this product?

Does anyone have any experience with the Level Controller device put out by Reef Fanatic? Is it reliable? I am currently using a Nurce type device for topping off evaporation loss. Every so often (every few weeks at random) the siphon breaks and the tank does not get topped off. This can be a problem if I go on vacation for a week. I thought this Level Controller might be a more reliable method. One of TRT's sponsors, Premium Aquatics sells it.

you should check out the tunze osmolator, little spendy, but supposedly the best and most reliable top off system

I bought two of these from Premium Aquatics and they work great. One of them had a fuse problem, but Jason at Premium Aquatics and Bob at Reef Fanatic were very quick to take care of the problem.

For my setup, I just plugged a Maxi-Jet 1200 powerhead with some hose (1/2" ID) into the Reef Fanatic controller and placed the powerhead in my reservoir (garbage can). It's not shown in any of their diagrams, but I use both float valves in the sump so that if one sticks the other will be there as a backup to prevent flooding.

The only problem I had was forgetting about the siphon. Since the reservoir held water higher than the sump, a lot of freshwater went into the sump. To fix this, I placed the hose into a larger hose above the reservoir so that the water would go into the larger hose and sump without any siphon.

Thanks Cousteau; I just bought one. Hopefully I will rest easier during my upcoming vacation not having to worry if my siphon is still working. I also did not think of the siphoning issue you mentioned. That little tidbit saved my a cleanup!
