Anyone get LR from Liveaquaria?
Liveaquaria (Dr Foster Smith) has a good deal on LR now.
$99 for 45lbs. This seems like a good deal. Has anyone ordered LR from them? They state that they inspect the rock.
I want to make sure I get good LR for my rebuild. I don't wanted infested/loaded rock.
Is there a better place to get the LR from?

keep in mind LR mostly comes from the reef, wether its aquaculterd or torn from the natural reef, it comes mostly from the ocean, anything can live within it. so there really is no guaruntee that you wont get some parasites. if you dont want parasites, you should go with dired rock that has been cured & cycled. nothing besides bacteria & algae is living after cycling with these rocks.

But the bacteria is what makes it live. Dried dead rock wont give me that for a reef.

many LFS's do this, they take dried rock '' Reef Bone '' & cure several rocks at a time, then sell it as '' LR '' basically theres 2 kinds of LR, the ones from the ocean that has sponges, worms, corals, inverts, that sorta thing, then Cured Reef Bone made in Established reef tanks, the LR from the ocean does not contain the bacteria needed, it contains life to die & creat the bacteria needed to cycle, just adding some dead frozen shrimp can do this as well

LFS is $10-$12/lb - rip off and will cost a fortune. and I dont trust the LFS's. Had bad LR last time around.
pods/worms that are needed in a reef tank do not come from a dead shrimp. I agree on the bacteria though.

ive gotten live rock from live aquaria, it was great stuff! way better than what thatpetplace has to offer near me.
it was covered in dark purple coralline and pretty much stayed that way. there wasnt much die off at all.
a few pieces were very large and lacey, i'll try and dig up an old pic

My first ever live rock was from liveaquaria, and it was great. It cured fast, and had great color and shape. definite A+++

I got the select Lalo live rock, it has tons of colors, not just purple. Mint, pink, and red. It was good stuff, really unique shape and I even found a couple brittle sea stars, and two stomatelas. I highly recommend it.

I was very pleased with my LR from Liveaquaria. I did cure it for 30 days, as I do all my LR before it enters my tank.

I figured if I get this I will have to cure it at least 2 months after shipping and getting the tank to stabilize. Maybe more. After a few months I will add some snails I guess and see how it goes. for $100 its worth a shot I guess.
