Anyone ever keep a goldflake angel?
Was curious if anyone has ever kept this species of angel, my LFS had one and before I laid down the money wanted to see what experiece anyone had. I have a 150 gallon system SPS dominated. Any husbandry tips would be appreciated. The LFS has had it for 2 weeks and it is nice and fat. Here is a pic from FFE. The scientific name is Apolemichthys xanthopunctatus. TIA

Wow Andy, I have never even had the chance to see a live one. As with most largish angels there are always risks but that is a beauty and not one everone has. It would be a magnificent addition if you go for it. Let us know what happens

Unfortunately, I found out it is iffy at best. I won't risk it, but it is the most beautiful fish I have ever seen and the only one of its kind I have seen in person. Oh well, I can dream of that FOWLR tank one day.

It's definately on my list of dream fish. They don't grow as large as the real big angels...and any angel diet with sponges/algae should be good. I think the biggest hurdle would be getting them to eat prepared foods. Very nice fish..i've only seen 1 in person. How much did your LFS want for it??

They wanted $300, but they were having a livestock sale this weekend so it was 25% off. Could have gotten it for $225. I might have done it, if it wasn't Christmas, since we are going out of town for 4-5 days. Don't like leaving new animals in my tank unattended. Especially the ones I am suspicious of.
