Anyone else have a problem with a dart sequence??

My dart sequence pump is now really loud. It sounds like there is sand or something weird in the motor. I know its not sand but thats what it sounds like. I just emailed the customer service buts its late. I just wanted to know if anyone else has had a problem with that.

The only problem I have had out of the myriad of sequence pumps i hae had is a hammerhead I bought this summer, but it was bad and noisy right out of the box.

Chris at sequence sent me a new pump no questions asked immediately and gave m e a month to send the faulty one back using a prepaid UPS slip he emailed me

So no other input than they will take care of it.

I assume you took it apart and made sure nothing was stuck in it??

Mine was loud for the first week and I tore it apart, cleaned it and put it back together. Ran flawlessly and quiet after that for nearly two years... Now it's still going strong, but on another tank in another state. I'm not sure if I got something in it running wet tests or what???

I will see what reeflo has to say. I may completley take it off the plumbing and clean it really good. I just got it where it is. I have unions on both sides of it so it should be pretty easy.

I was going to suggest cleaning it too. If it's really grinding it could be the bearings I've not had any problems with those pumps (knock on wood) I have several in service at the shop, as well as in some larger installations. I think I had one go bad once, and was able to have my distributor exchange it as it was still under warranty - that was through the distributor though, not the manufacturer, but I wouldn't foresee a problem at any level.

They're good, solid, and quiet pumps - well made and usually very reliable.

Mine has worked fine for a while now, runs a bit hot but I think that's common.

I was also going to ask if they generally run hot? My fan seems very weak and the body is hot to the touch. I have a Mak 4 next to it that the fan is really powerful and the pump body is cool to the touch.

I talked to Reeflo and they think its the bearings. I need to call them tomorrow but I think I will be getting a new one sent to me. I would have thought it was something in the pump too but its coming from the motor not the impeller side. You can hear it very clearly. Its also not just a grinding sound but a weird hum. Its really loud now. I can hear it upstairs. I will keep you all posted.

I could keep my hand on mine for about 4-5 seconds before feeling discomfort. It may be a dumb way to tell, but that is how I can relay it to you since I don't have a point and read thermometer.

I dunno why these pump motors run so hot. Nothing in the industrial world runs like that.
