I had one a while back but lost him to a power outage. They need a long tank, as they are very active swimmers. Getting them to eat well will help a lot. They are also very prone to ick.

I have heard they are among the harder tangs to keep - Beautiful fish though

I've researched them quite a bit, but I've never seen one around to buy. I would love to give it a try some day, but I'll want a larger tank that I've currently got (a 150. They are a very active fish, more so than most tangs, and I understand they suffer much more quickly from lowered oxygen concentrations than other fish, hence their poor shipping reputations. Honestly, I think their best left to very experienced hobbyists with large tanks.

As tangs go they are difficult. More sensitive than most. Best kept by experienced hobbyists.

Yes beautiful fish, but they do get big and aggressive. I wanted one but was also told they are extremely difficult to keep due to their size, aggression, and feeding habits.

they are the jack russel terrier of tangs. they require perfect water and more than plenty swimming room. they are very delicate and very active. i would work up to one. if you can keep a powder blue alive and happy then you may have a chance.
find someone who imports from Hawaii to get a good one when you are ready.

Twitt- has a very important point. make sure you get one from Hawaii. much less chance that it was caught using cyanide. this goes for any of the Pacific tangs.
