You are correct - there aren't many LFS in the area that are worth while.
Honestly, I buy almost all of my dry goods from
Premium Aquatics in IN ... I also buy most of my corals online as well.
Tropiquarium on rt 35 in Ocean Township is the best bet for you. They are a little pricey, but usually have a nice selection of healthy livestock.
Shoot me a PM for additional details if you want. I will give you my opinion on any store you like as I have visited most of them. I won't talk negatively about any store(s) in the area in a public forum - afterall it is just my opinion.
