Any large DIY skimmer designs out there???

I'm just starting up a multiple tank system. 140 gal sump and 10 breeder tanks. Maybe 400 gal water total.

I've been looking on the internet for do it yourself skimmers capable of handling this much water with a heavy bioload.

I've found a couple downdraft/HSA designs using the Beckett Fomator that might work.
Anyone out there have any experience with these? Any other DIY skimmers out there?

I think those a small airstone skimmers.
I need something that can handle a large volume of water. But, thanks anyway. I hadn't seen that page before - looks like there are several other interesting DIY projects there.
