Any ideas?

I want to use the CLS we made on my tank. The question I have is where to set the pump. We had it setting on the glass support along with the CLS itself. I was told it needed to be at water level or below. The pump is a 2400 Mag Drive pump. I'll attach the pictures I posted before when we tried to run it. We didn't really get good flow out of the 8 outlets. May be we never really got it primed well. I don't even know it that would make a difference. I'm hoping someone can give me a shelf idea. an EASY one.

It can be rebuilt.

i would really try running it fully primed. you should get about 400gph per outlet with that setup. the only other thing to do is run a pipe down along the side of the tank and put the pump below in the stand.

i ran a Mag12 above water for a couple of years without any problem. it does work very well. priming can be a pain, but if you remember to cap the outlets before a water change you will not have to reprime the pumpe every time.

I'd like to keep it out of the sump since I'm already dealing with trying to keep the water cool. Plus I don't want it to siphon a lot of water out of the tank if something goes wrong. Sounds like we just need to get some plugs and give it another try.

i was not suggesting putting it in the sump, just in the stand. you would need to run pipes down to the pump and then back up to the CLS ring. putting one pipe on one side of the tank and the other on the otherside. paint them the colour of the wall and call it good.

I think we are going to give this a try. Also with the CLS we have while we had it in the tank waiting for the pump to work it seemed to collect some scummy stuff inside the ring of tubing. Do you think it would continue to do that even when it is running, or do you think it would keep it all kicked up? If so we need to rethink our plan and go for a U shape instead.
