Any California Reefkeepers Here???

I was reading in the Advanced Aquarist Online magazine about calculating operating expenses for electrical.

I use PG&E for utility power and am on a program where the juice I use between 6pm and 11:59am is cheap, and the juice I use between 12:00pm and 5:59pm is expensive.

Anybody else on this system. Energy saving suggestions and tips would be very interesting. I don't think I can reverse day and night for the animals. Daylight is pretty apparent in the house and I would have a hard time fooling them into thinking its night time. Unless I get some party animals.

Howdy Hom =)

Because of our insane work schedule, Gabe and I have always had our reef timed for 2pm to 2am. The morning ambient light that filters into our office where the reef is, has never seemed to bother the critters. They sleep in until the blue lights come up and announce the beginning of their day. I am not sure about the ammount of natural light you have flooding into your home, but we have 4 windows in this room, covered with sheer curtains.

Thanks Casie,

I bet the light is fairly close to what I observe in your photo. Very nice reefscaping. I do like your reef. My cousin lives out your neck of the woods.
