any advice for picking fish

Can you believe my beautiful hippo tang is picking like crazy at my new $150 raspberry doughnut coral? The tang has NEVER picked at anything and is uncatchable.

What is everone's advice here on picking fish? Especially since I CANNOT catch the fish. Anyone ever tried using clear twine or acrylic to cover over the coral or increase feedings? I feed every other day right now but don't want to create a problem with nitrates rising.....Grrr......

Fish trap. I built one to catch my blue hippo tang. If it's that bold, it shouldnt take but a few days for it to get comfy in the baited trap, and then you can remove it.

I have had a lot of luck going in long after the lights have been out with a net.
If you know where he sleeps you can net him. If you can not get him with the net try putting the handle end in and spooking him out. The other way is to turn on all of the lights after they have been off for a while. The fish come out kinda in a daze like us when we get woken up early.

Tried both of these and a fish trap (rented one for over a week). Would not even go near it, but I did catch every other fish in the tank (or could have).

sometimes the fish traps take awhile to catch the fish you want to catch. I had the same problem so I took a two litter Pepsi bottle cut it in half then cut several med sized holes in it so flow could go through and placed it over the coral(in my case a brain) until I caught the fish I wanted to catch. At lest this way the coral is protected until the fish is caught. Good luck
