Antibacterial sponges ? A Problem?

Hey all,

I was just trying to scrub away some oceanic stickers on the inside of my new tank. I was having trouble so I got a new sponge with a scrub pad ( so there would be no soap, etc) and scrubed away the two stickers with a bit of water.

Then I looked at the package and saw that the sponge had "antibacterial technology to prevent odors". I assume its impregnated with some sore of antibacterial agent. Sjould I just use a towel and fresh water to wipe down the inside of the tank?

It's a 120...so its not like I can go hose it down or really rinse it out....

Thanks

Pat

IMO I would wash the whole tank down inside & out several times with warm water before you add any substrate or water! A lot of times the tanks are stored in storage rooms separate from your LFS’s main show room. There could even be residue from bug spray or other contaminates that could get on the glass.
