I'm not sure but here is my understanding of Anthias They like groups and they are hard to feed. Ive always stayed clear of them because I was told they are high care fish. Having said that I'm sure other people here can tell you more.

Others know much more than me but a few things.
In the wild they live in groups in the wild I believe on male with a bunch of females. They'd be more comfortable in an aquarium in a group espeically depending on aggressiveness of tankmates. I believe they swim a lot. So that combined with the group thing they should be in large tanks. Also they have small stomachs. Some are hardier than others - bartletts and lyretail to name a few of the better ones. But even these should be fed several times per day.

Now I've never kept any so this is information I have from reading not from personal experience.

For a 29g I'd stay away. Depending on tankmates I can make other suggestions.
If they are somewhat aggressive maybe a pseudochromis, if peaceful and firefish or in the middle maybe look at basslets or blennies.

Anyways the suggestions are just some of my opinions. Many more to choose from.

A beautiful fish indeed, but I believe a 29 is too small for them.

i would not do an anthias. if you are looking for a colourfull fish than go with a flasher wrasse. much more hardy than the anthias.

what else is in this tank?
