Another upgrade question...

Before i leave to go to sleep for my first day of school tomorrow I have a question. What is a good overflow box and what return pump should i use to match it? Was thinking CPR CS50 or CS90, which would be better? I know the return pump's GPH is also reduced by the length it has to travel to get into the tank, angles, etc. so which return pump would match the overflow you would choose and which overflow would you choose? Was also looking at the eshopps too, whats up with those?

anything is better than the CPR or other similar type of weir overflows... go UTube all the way. My suggestion is Lifereef, built like a tank and will last a good long time.

I would get a pump rated at about 75% of your overflow.

When you add head loss it will be about 50-60% less than your overflow rating

The MAG pumps are great and usually last a long time but are prone to heat transfer.
Ehiem are also great pumps!

But if its 50-60% less wont my sump overflow or is that what lets the sump fill up? Which mag would be appropriate for a standard (600 gph) lifereef overflow box?

go with a mag5. I have the eshopps siphon style overflow with a mag5 and it works fine. Check out my images if you want to see pics. There's better though... like drilling your tank.

I bought another 55g tank and I'm installing this style of overflow in it.

Personally... well you know my choice.. Eheim all the way! the 1250 would work well.

I had the same overflow box, I was using the Hydor Seltz line of pump with it, pretty dependable pump, but not nearly as silent as the Eheims.

Sounds good, im building the stand and getting the tank in about a month then ill slowly build up and i should have all my equipment on christmas then it will be up and running with rock fish and coral by march, hooray! By the way, should i get a nova extreme pro 6 bulb fixture for 230 bucks? Really cheap and has individual reflectors and 6 bulbs, its pretty nice.
