Another Tank Alien..
ok.. so i was looking at the tank today (big surprise..and yep still full of Diatoms) anyway, i noticed this little creature sticking out the bottom of my rock... it was white kind had hairs all around it (like a caterpillars that lost 90% of it's hairs) about 1.5-2" long about 3-4 millimeters in diameter (without the hairs, about a centimeter including the hairs) what is it.. it seemed to feed a little on the diatoms..

sounds like a feather duster to me... is it stationary? does the hairs suck back into it real quick when something gets near it?

It is so much fun watching all of the life popping out of your rocks in a new tank.

My experience with hydroids is that they usually disappear after a while.

I had a massive colony of them in my nano, hundreds of them. They disappeared on their own in about 2 months.
