another question about sand

let the "silica sand is ok" vs. the "silica sand is the devil's work" debate rage on!

does it really matter if i use ordinary play (silica) sand to make my sand bed or do i have to use carribsea (or similar) sand?

Chalk one up for the "silica sand is ok". There is a member of our local reef group who used silica sand for his 200+ gallon tank. No problems whatsoever. I remember Rob Toonen giving some good replys to people asking the same question before and he said it wouldnt harm your tank. I cant remember the link, but someone here knows it for sure.

I think the most important thing is that its the proper size and seeded with live sand or detrivores.
