Was not a pretty day in PDX. Made the LFS circuit and was a complete flop. Started out at Woodys'. He has some things that were pretty decent, and we almost brought them home. Will get them next week at the meeting.
Had do take daughter to college entrance exams so didnt know how lomg till we could leave for home and only had the small cooler. Should have got the Woodsters things anyway now that I look back.
Went to number two. Almost got a nice looking clam, but need advice first. Decided to do the light/shade thing over the clams. The blue ones and the red ones ducked for cover really fast. The two that I was looking at were very nice looking, but make no reaction to the light. They are more brown, but not like the Trinnys I have. Maybe just a different strain? Anyway, pretty good size clam and nice looking for $50.00. But I chickend out. Anybody else hear the rumble of clam illness going about from other LFS? Just wondering, or did another clown dump something in thier tank agian to kill all of them?
Next question. They had a really cool lime green wrasse. I cant remember the name, maybe carsco or something like that???? Anybody have one? How are they?
Went to the next one and as usual, they were outrageously priced. Couldnt get myself to buy anything at those prices.
Next, went to the last one and there was next to nothing in coral or fish. All but two of the corals had problems. Tissue falling off, definate trails across tissue from something eating it, and a bunch of just sick looking guys. The fish too. Missing fins, swimming sideways and other not good qualities. This is sad, as thin LFS is usually pretty good about stock and quality. Went to Petco up the street, and nodda zip! It was bare!
So, all day in PDX, no corals , no fish, no clams.
I hope there is frag frenzy this week for the meeting trade!
