Be very careful buying an anemone with a gaping mouth.

He may have seen the anemone after a recent poo. there are many reasons anemones invert their mouths. Yes a sickness is one reason but there are many others.

If you had seen the store you would say it was the water quality they had one tank with this aqua cultured live rock coated in cyano and GHA there selling it for 9 dollars a pound I thought I saw the same anenome(it was all shriveled up) but they said it was a different one I bet if they were on TRT there set up would be a little nicer but they are stubborn and don't listen I told them not to use the crushed coral from there last nasty tank in htere new one but they did not listen, this guy even bought some guys used substrate (chrushed coral) there crazy anything to make or save a buck.

If you feel that strongly don't buy from them. I drive out of the way to go to a "better" lfs. I have issues with all the local stores but some are a cry better than others.

Agreed! If this LFS has that kinda attitude towards their livestock I would not spend a penny there.

But keep in mind what I said in post #1 and 4

Most LFS around here keep there inverts in there fish displays ( around here at least) and have no idea. Most keep there fisk tanks at 1.02 ( or even less) SG, no skimmer, and at best 1 VHO. IMO that is a death sentance for a anemone.

Yes, or possibly even after a feeding. However, the words "pretty bad" makes me believe it is more of an health issue. It is not uncommon for LFS to not take care of anemones properly.
