Sad ain't it? For most of us, this is still the authoritative work on these critters. It is largely factual information. This doesn't typically change with time. It describes the different species, where they are found, and what fish associate with them. Our knowledge has grown a little. Like Dr. Fautin doesn't connect saddle back clowns with LTA anemones. We now know, that in at least one area, these two do live together.
What we are lacking is an understanding of how to care for these critters once in captivity. We have a ton of anecdotal evidence that often contradicts itself. Some people believe we should feed them, and some believe we shouldn't. How much light and flow do they require? We simply don't have enough reliable information in this area to fill a book, or write an article with any real meaning. If you study Dr. Fautin's work, you can get an idea of how these different species live in the wild, and attempt to duplicate that in our little glass boxes, but beyond that, it's mostly guess work.
