Question

Anemone missing tentacles?

Hey guys,

I have a pretty large anemone. He's about 14-15" in diameter. Lately, I've been noticing that he's missing some tentacles . . . and it looks like some of the tips of the tentacles are scattered around the tank. (They flouresce under to actinic lights) I've been suspecting a crab of unknown origin . . . wich by the way . . . I nabbed his little punk self about 2-hours ago. So . . . Will a crab eat anemones? I thought that anemones would sting most predators? Do you think the crab was the culprit or maybe some other predator? . . . or do anemones do this naturally? Maybe I'm over reacting.

Anybody ever had to deal with something like this before?

Actually, I have two:

One typical cleaner shrimp: (I'm not sure what the official name is . . . but hes red with a white stripe all the way down his back)

One Banded Coral Shrimp

I did not know that they ate anemones. Why are they not stung? I have heard that a peppermint shrimp might eat anemones . . . but I thought that was the only one. Guess I was wrong . . . Huh?

Thanks,

i had a peppermint shrimp do the same thing, it looked like he would nibble on the tentacles... which in turn would eventually fall off... dont know if that was the cause, but just what i saw.
