Talking

And so it begins......

The day of the tank upgrade has arrived. I finished moving the 55G this weekend to make room for the new addition. Today I picked up my new 180g All-Glass Aquarium.

For anyone that hasn't seen it, they have moved the overflows out of the corners about 6 inches. I think I like it, but won't know for sure until it has water in it. I knew it would be this way before I ordered it, so no surprises here. They also redesigned the overflow itself so that water drains in from the top, bottom, and middle. Before it was just the top and bottom.

Now all I need is a stand to put it on.

You know, I thought it would be bigger. I guess I will need to build a new house for the next upgrade. Are there any cheaper hobbies?

Anyway, sorry to ramble, and here is a pic of the tank just sittin' in the floor. Maybe I will throw a pillow in there and sleep in it tonight.

Yep, a little heavy. I called the lfs when it came in and asked the lady that worked there how many people to bring to move it. Her respose was that her and the " little 95 pound" delivery guy unloaded it from the truck by themselves, but I should bring help. After the move home, I am beginning to wonder if she was totally honest with me... I can see moving it with two people, but it was still heavy with FOUR!!

As for the overflows, I think I will like having the ends opened up for better viewing. The dead spots in the corner are nothing that the closed loop won't fix!

One more thing about the new design...

The tank has a "pre-drilled tempered bottom glass" according to the All-Glass sticker on the front.

That's cool. I didn't think the bottom could be tempered if it is drilled.
