Ammonia Nitrite

My tanks in its 9th month now and as far as fish go fully stocked with 1 gramma, pair of wild ocellaris and 3 green/blue chromis in a 55usg

After initial spikes i've never had a reading of either, can i knock these tests off my weekly check? seems a bit pointless

Do you test for these in a newish tank??

I still test for them weekly. I bough the test kit and might as well use it. Thats just my opinion.

Yeah as they are there use them but how about if you run out, would you replace??

I think i would replace......I like the idea of having peace of mind knowing that the levels are still at 0 and not waiting till something in my tank dies and then find out that the levels some how spiked. Im sure you will get other opinions saying something different.

I wouldn't waste your money or time. The only way you would register ammonia again is if a large quantity (which you don't have) of fish died, someone started drastically overfeeding, or you lost power for some extended period of time. A Seachem ammonia alert badge might help you feel a little more at ease. Honestly, there's only three tests you need after a cycle: nitrates, pH, and alkalinity. The last two are only important if you have a reef and are usually not out-of-whack as long as you don't screw with the chemistry.

get an annomia badge and keep the test kits in a drawer...
