alkalinity too high??
Cleaned (25%) tank on 3/14, parameters then were
ph 8.2
alk 11.9
ca 410
sg 1.023
temp 77
today is:
ph 8.2
alk 12.2
ca 430
sg 1.023
temp 77.2
any ideas why alkalinity is so high???
112g tank, 30g sump, skimmer, ro/di water only

How are you measuring that Salinity?
Do you add anything to your tank like "Reef builder", "Purple up", any kind of "Ph booster" or anything?

I use a refractometer that I calibrate using ro/di water. I periodically add iodine and scrontium

I would tend to say no,.. some people run there alk that high just on purpose, though other people have had issues letting it get up that high.
What does your new water (for a water change) mix up to on Alk?
Whiskey

IMO 12.2 is not high...I use 12.0 as target.

No I think he means fresh made salt water before you add it to the tank.

sure will. Thanks. Also, how often do I need to change the ro/di filters. I changed them about 6 months into tank, and now it's been six more months. Is that too often?
