algea

In the last couple of days I have had a new (to me) form of algea develop. It is black and kind of crusty. It blows off the rocks with a turkey baster real easy. But it comes right back. Last night I dug out my old gravel cleaner to see what would happen, Looking at the siphon it appeared to be fairly crusty. I can see it moving along the path of one of my powerheads. I am enclosing a pic. It is the black stuff in the photo..

Is this slimy at all? If so, it might be black slime algea. This is known to grow very fast, and usually breaks up when current hit is at a hard speed. I have seen tanks grow out of control with this stuff(if it is slime algea...)

HTH, FMSNY PIPLIAS...LOL...LMAO...ROTFLMAO...

I take it that you have had enough, LOL...
