Algae in Glass

I am a newbie and would like to know if there is anything I can do or equipments I can use to scrape off stubborn algae on my glass. I use the magnetic cleaner but some still won't get off, I used blades and I noticed the glass have some scratch marks. Help

Use a credit card on stubborn spots.

Oy como esta kybegon (sorry for the spelling)

If your tank is glass use a little razor blade. The ones that have the solid back work well. I tried the type with the handles but they do not work as well as just grabbing the blade and going to work.

Talk to you mamiya and welcome to TRT.

What I have done is get a cheap paint scraper from the store with the metal razor rectangular razor blades. The only thing about this method is you must be very carefull around the corners where the silicone is so you don't scrape it off too, and also basically you can only use it once because, as it it made of metal, the whole thing will rust even if you rinse it afterwards with tap water. I too had a huge problem and bought one of these for like $1-2 and was very happy with the results. Maybe you could try this too.

The Algae is in the front glass. No I am not scraping coraline. I got problem specially at the curve. I have a tank wherein two sides (front) are rounded.

I have the same problem... Just today after work I saw a huge increase of brown algae/spots on my sides and front view... my tank is about 3 weeks old ... My LFS told me that this is supposedly good. Not quite sure what to do as well. Someone wanna lend in some words of wisdom before its too late? =]

I have a bowfront, myself.

and I've learned...razors on the curved glass are BAD!

I used a magnetic scraper with razors on it for the back/sides (barely ever do the back..maybe once every couple months)

As for the front pane, which is curved, I used a special algae sponge pad (made specially for aquarium use). Sometimes I gotta scrub pretty hard...but that's how it has to be sometimes.

Also..when I get coraline on the front glass..and the sponge won't get it off, I used the magnetic razors, but I only go side to side...no up and down or diagonal (as the razon WILL scratch going in those directions)
