Do you use RO water or tap water. I know that using RO water will help keep algae down a bit.

Sounds like there's something wrong with your water.

While there may be a few things to help reduce the algae growth, trying to keep from cleaning the glass would be a hopeless enterprise. I have to clean my glass once or twice a week. I don't think there's any getting around it. BUT, if you are having trouble keeping snails alive, you may need to test your water to make sure things are doing alright.

i don't have a problem keeping shrimp or crabs just snails???? my nitrates and ammonia levels are 0 and my calcium is 440 my magnesium is 1240 the only other thing i test regularly is phosphate and that is high and i cannot get it under control. i use a phosphate filter pad in the wet/dry system also phosorb in a media bag and add phosphate e to the water still there. recently found out that my lfs was selling me RO water for that issue and it was full of phosphates.

go BB then you will not have to clean your glass much at all. i tend to clean my glass about once every month or so. even then it is because the coralline algae makes it hard to see in the tank.
