Agression.

Two fish kind of like swiping their tails together. Is that aggression or no? I just put in a new fish. So is it just a dominance establishing thing? Or will it escalate to something more? Please help.

It can be. My Foxface does that to establish territory. Also some fish have a sharp fin they can use to prod others. And in some fish is a mating ritual. Otherwise it could be related to the type of music playing in the background and the flashing lights

Tangs. Purple and yellow. I know. I know. They don*t always do well together. But my yellow tang is very happy go lucky, and the purple one is slightly smaller. I*ve had fish do this then stop. But I just want to make sure that this won*t become a huge issue. They just kind of turn away from eachother and brush their tails up against one another. But they don*t seem to be having too many issues. When they swim by eachother they*re fine, but every once and a while they do that.

What size tank? Being the same genus, there's a good chance that they won't tolerate each other.

Thats why they are called surgeon fish - The little white mark at the base of the tail is a weapon
