Acrylic + MH =???

I was considering putting a 175w MH over my 30 gallon acrylic tank, Its just a thought because I have a 175 im not using, currently there are two 55w 50/50 PCs over it.
So is this safe? as far as making the acrylic brittle and cracking? or even overkill for such a small tank?

Maybe if it is an old tank. the new acrylic tanks are much better at not having issues. I don't see a problem.
