acropora 2

Doug, sorry for the confusion - mostly softies, 3 toadstools, 1 flower leather, lots or shrooms, 1 pagoda, green button polyps, brown button polyps, 1 open brain, 2 spaghetti leathers- doing great – 1 white, 1 green (that’s what the lsf guy called them) & 1 bubble tip anemone.
Haven’t added anything in a long time – was neglecting the tank but back into the swing now – Berlin skimmer not too much foam since I added approx. 4 in. of sand but lots of bubbles coming up from the sand - my concern with Acros is that I tried a few frags about 1 year ago and they didn’t do well - they all bleached on me so needless to say I’m running scared. Need all the info I can get. Besides good calcium( which I have), low nitrates, very low phosphates - everything seems to be great – should I go for it??? Do I still need actinic – it’s very$$$$. Does the 20,000k take its place?
Re: Live Rock in my tank - I have about 300 lbs. And I just added 40 lbs. of Fiji rock- doing great- that’s about it. Thanks for all your help. Lou

Some people seem to start off with the 10000K bulbs and go back to the Iwasaki, others like them, its a personal choice but the 6500K and actinic seems to be a proven combo.
Aas far as calcium, good that its good now but after you start collecting SPS the calcium demand will skyrocket, so just keep that in mind as a someday thing
Kalk and 2 part gets spendy and a hassle on a large SPS tank
FWIW its harder to mix the SPS with soft and LPS corals. THere is a lot of chemical warfare going on with soft coral and LPS have nasty stinger tentacles that can be detrimental to SPS
