Acro ??

I've slowly begun hosting some SPS. Started with a montipora frag from a friend, and it's doing well, showing obvious growth. Then I tried a hydnophora, which has colored up to a bright green and also appears to be putting on some growth.

Flushed with those "successes", Saturday I brought home a 3" acropora frag. The owner of the LFS where I got it was uncertian as to it's exact ID, but he thought it is a millepora. In any case, it's a baby blue color with purple tips. I have it situated about 14" from a 175W 10,000K Ushio about 6" below the water surface, and it's getting what I'd call moderate water movement. Although it appears "happy", I have yet to see any of the polyps extend any tentacles. Is this normal, or should I be concerned?

Regards,
Bert

It may take a few days to get used to your tank before showing its polyps. It may be extending them at night, check with a flashlight to see. I wouldn't worry yet.

Yep, I'd check it at night. It should be putting out polyps when it's dark. It may just take some time to settle in.

It is a pretty piece indeed, but I haven't figured out how to get my digital camera to do macro focusing yet. I've got 2 shots, but both are hopelessly out of focus. Guess I'll have to resort to actually reading the instructions

Meantime, no extention yet, even at night, but I'll just be patient....

Bert
