ACK!?! Drill a hole in my sump

The float switch directions for my new ATO kit say to drill a 9/16" hole in the sump. This would have been better to know maybe before I put water in it.

Any ideas how to mount this. I was thinking about making a Delrin block and clamping it to a baffle or something with a Handi Clamp.

What I have is basically a float from Spectrapure that has a threaded boss that would go through the side of the tank. Water goes in down the middle.

I don't mind a colorful 1/4" line snaking through my sump, but would like this to be secure enough to work.

There are several ways to mount it, no reason to drill a hole in the sump. Just make sure that it is stable and will take the pressure from the float being pushed up

I do have access to scrap chunks of plastic. I was thinking of machining one and gluing it to the baffle with aquarium sealant.

Delrin probably won't stick well but maybe Garolite or ABS. Any ideas?

ABS would probably be the best bet

Got a world class machinest making a bracket that will slide over a baffle in the sump with nylon screws to hold things. Handy to have skills to trade around.

Perry thats pretty much how I did mine, that way you can slide it to set the level in the return pump section, the only part that should fluctuate

...or you can put in a piece of 4" pvc vertical to the bottom in a closet flange...

Okay it cost me a breakfast burrito (a real one from the Mexican dive) but here is the hang on bracket for the sump baffle installed. Thanks to our in house master tool maker at work.

The install will go in the 75g build thread, and it test fit perfectly.
