accuracy of thermometer
if i remember awhile ago i seen a post where someone said you can check the accuracy of a digital thermometer by putting ice in a glass of water and stirring it and thermometer should read 32* can anyone verify that this is true?
how long would you stir the ice for ?

Yes,fill it with as much ice as posable,then add some water,stir it and it should read 32 deg.

5 min is plenty of time. just long enough for the water to reach equilibrium with the ice cubes.

And use Crushed ice if you can,.. but don't add salt.

well i did the ice and water test and the thermometer read 32.5* so its reading .5* too high.

There is still a chance that's correct. Ice doesnt turn into water just because the temp is slightly above 32.
